Falcon

Features of the FALCON Model

With its slide-lock mechanism, the FALCON model is suitable for slightly larger targets than the SWALLOW model.
Reference guideline: In still water, it is designed for rainbow trout around 60 cm in length. In flowing water, due to the increased water resistance, please consider targeting smaller sizes than the above.

For larger fish than this, or for targeting species like steelhead, we recommend choosing the OSPREY or RAPTOR models.

The line guide attachment is intended for use with single-handed rods.
When using a double-handed rod, especially in Spiral Mode, please remove the attachment before use.

About Line Capacity

The indicated line capacity assumes compatibility with a wide variety of fly line types.
Please refer to the example line setups below to help you make an informed decision when selecting your line configuration.

Example Line Setups

The spool line capacities shown in the above specifications are based on standard AFFTA designations (#4–#6, #7–#9).
They reflect typical setups using double taper, weight forward, Skagit, Scandinavian, shooting spey fly lines, and standard running lines.

If you plan to use a short fly line paired with PE line (braid) in Spiral Mode, the capacity will differ significantly from the standard AFFTA-based capacities.
Please refer to the example images below for guidance when selecting your setup.

MTX-D2,787X-G2 spool Super FireLine® 50lb 270m – 300m + shooting head #7/#8 (S1/S2) 9.9m

MTX-D2,787X-G2 spool Super FireLine® 50lb 250 -300m + 26.5ft Skagit system 600 gr

MTX-D3,787X-G3 spool Super FireLine® 50ln 400m + 23.5ft Skagit system 510gr

You can see from the photo above that we’ve loaded 400 meters of 50lb Super FireLine onto the 787X-G3 spool, along with a 510-grain Skagit line (floating, 23.5 ft).
As you can tell, 400 meters is quite a substantial amount.

Please select your spool size based on the type of fly line you intend to use and the length of running line necessary when fighting fish.

All current Jet Stream models share the same reel body size, which means the OSPREY, RAPTOR, SWALLOW, and FALCON spools are interchangeable.
If you own one Jet Stream reel body, you can use any spool with different line capacities from these series interchangeably.
(Please note: the EAGLE model is not compatible with this system.)

The Difference Between Left-Hand Retrieve and Right-Hand Retrieve

Please note:
Jet Stream reels have a fixed handle orientation, just like baitcasting reels.
When purchasing, please confirm the desired handle direction.

If the spool handle is on the left side when the reel is mounted on the rod, it is a left-hand retrieve model.
If the spool handle is on the right side, it is a right-hand retrieve model.
